A common cause for a car air conditioning to not blow old cold air as it used to is low refrigerant. Low refrigerant can happen if you haven’t had your A/C serviced in a long time or if there is a leak somewhere in the system. In order to get your vehicle’s A/C running like new again, you’ll need to have an A/C recharge performed.
An A/C recharge service consists of removing all of the refrigerant from the system, flushing everything out to be able to put fresh refrigerant in. It also includes a test of the system’s pressure and temperature control which is important when it comes to a working air conditioning system. We also check for leaks to make sure that the refrigerant isn’t low for this reason. If there is a leak, we will repair it to ensure that refrigerant doesn’t continue to leak inside of your vehicle (this can cause the whole A/C system to shut down and cause damage to surrounding parts).
So, how long does a car A/C recharge last? There isn’t a set amount of time per se when it comes to how often you’ll need an A/C recharge. However, we recommend having the system inspected once a year to look for leaks and any other issues. If you’re due for a recharge, you’ll notice one or more of the following symptoms:
- Defroster doesn’t work
- Not a lot of cool air blows from vents
- A/C only blows warm air
As soon as you notice any of these symptoms, it’s time for an A/C recharge here at Motorhaus! We invite you to our shop at your earliest convenience. We will take care of the issue and get you back on the road driving comfortably again.
