You’re getting ready to go somewhere, then boom, your car stalls! You probably scream to yourself, “Why!?”. So, you will keep trying. Either you will get the BMW to turn on or it will again keep stalling. Now, you’re fed up and wondering why does it keep stalling? Here are reasons.
Lack of Fuel
This is one of the most obvious reasons your BMW won’t start. If you have forgotten to fill up the tank, your car will not start unless it has fuel. However, a faulty or clogged fuel filter can be the cause too. When it can’t filter out the particles from gasoline, it can get damaged or clogged. Also, the wrong type of fuel for the car can be a reason. If you’ve put diesel in a car that only takes regular fuel, it can cause severe problems for your BMW, including stalling.
Not Enough Power
Your BMW needs a good bit of power in order to run. When you’re driving at speeds of 70 to 75 miles per hour, it generates a lot of power to reach that speed. If the ignition system is working properly, you are able to power your car and go about your day. However, if there isn’t enough power, it can cause the engine to die while you are driving or idling, which can be dangerous. Make sure that you are able to get a safe place on the road if this situation happens. You’ll want to check the fuel pump every 100,000 miles, as the chance of it failing increases.
Not Enough Oxygen
Cars need air in order to operate correctly. If the air filter is dirty, it can actually be the reason your car stalls. Thankfully, you don’t need to change the air often filters (Only needs to change every 3 years)
Other reasons why the car may stall:
- Faulty MAP Sensor
- Leak In Vacuum Line
- Water In Your Fuel Tank
- Faulty Ignition Coil
- Wiring Problem
- Faulty Spark Plug
